Three packed nights at the Palais Omnisports Stadium in depths of Paris saw capacity crowds at the 29th Bercy Supercross raise the roof in the French Capital.

The biggest and best indoor annual race meeting on the continent was won by American Kyle Chisholm, closely followed by another SX specialist from the US, Eli Tomac with Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer claiming third spot overall after paying a visit to the box on two out of three nights.

As the skies drew dark on Friday, the show lights came on and the drama and action kicked in as 2010 ‘King of Bercy’ Justin Barcia was punted off the track and out of contention for a defence of his crown. Chisholm was second at the first time of asking and then bade ‘bon soir’ to his rivals in his wake to grab a win on Saturday evening. He was third on Sunday to make sure of his status as the top dog.

Jake Weimer says: “I had some good and some bad moment here in Bercy, overall the result is pretty decent. I won a couple of heat races, put some good lap times, it could have been better but it’s like it is! I had fun there and I would be pleased to be back next year; it was my first time in Bercy, I was excited and I knew what to expect with the crowd and the stadium.”

Meanwhile, Tommy Searle ducked out of his post season holiday in California to come back and replace Christophe Pourcel at super short notice and bagged seventh overall. Tommy now heads back to the US to resume to his post season schedule which will see him return to a Monster Energy Kawasaki 250 machine in the World Championship MX2 class in 2012.

Tommy Searle says: “It was a last minute choice to race here. I had just four days on the bike before coming here as I didn’t ride since the Nations, but thanks to Mitch he provided some very good material. I was unprepared for this race and I didn’t like this, but I had fun and overall it wasn’t so bad.”

The match between Monster Energy and the Bercy event is a tidy fit. The crowd were rowdy and pumped to see some of the best US riders showcasing their skills this side of the Atlantic and the challenging Parisian track took the racers through the tunnels and guts of the stadium, creating some dicey scenes.
