Hunter Lawrence overcame a costly first-moto last-lap mistake to win the overall RedBud National. Hunter’s second-moto win returns him to the top of the 450MX standings at the fifth round of the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, as his brother Jett faltered at RedBud Raceway.

Riding for Honda HRC Progressive, Hunter’s 2-1 scorecard delivered his second straight overall victory and a class-leading third win of the season. It capped a historic afternoon, as for the first time in 53 years, RedBud’s overall podium was composed entirely of international racers.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado grabbed the first-moto holeshot and led early, while Haiden Deegan and Aaron Plessinger crashed separately in the first corner. However, Jett worked his way past for the lead while Hunter tracked down Prado for second. Hunter reeled in his younger brother over the closing minutes and made the pass, only to tip over on the final lap. The mistake handed the moto win back to Jett, who took his fifth moto victory of the summer by 3.2 seconds. Prado came home third, more than 20 seconds back, followed by Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s RJ Hampshire and Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Garrett Marchbanks. Deegan worked his way up to P10, while Plessinger was done for the day.

Prado again grabbed the holeshot to start the second moto, leading Haiden Deegan and Jett. Hunter started sixth and quickly carved forward. Chasing Deegan for second, Jett lost the rear end on a fast left-hand sweeper. He crashed, remounting outside the top 10. Jett went down a second time while running in P8, dropping to 11th and effectively ending his bid for the overall.

That cleared the way for a two-man duel. Prado built a lead of nearly nine seconds by the halfway point. After Hunter disposed of Deegan to take over P2, Hunter set his sights on Prado. Hunter quickly reeled in Prado and passed the Spaniard for the lead. Once in front, Hunter pulled away to win by 11.2 seconds over Prado. Deegan finished a distant third, while Jett salvaged fifth after a determined charge through the field.

Prado’s pair of holeshots and 3-2 finishes earned him second overall, his second podium this year, equaling his career best from the season opener. Jett’s 1-5 was enough for P3 overall and his 38th career premier-class podium. Deegan’s 10-3 left him in P6 overall.

The result reshapes the title picture. Hunter reclaimed the points lead he had ceded earlier in the summer and now sits on 227 points, three clear of Jett. The pair have pulled well away from the rest of the field. Deegan holds third with 176 points, 51 behind Hunter. Prado’s runner-up finish moved him to within striking distance of P4, as he is just 12 points behind Deegan. Hampshire (157) and Marchbanks (149) round out the top six, with Hampshire’s 4-4 day extending his lead over Marchbanks to 8 points.
