BMW Motorrad Sales Report – February 2014
Arriving off its third-consecutive year of record-breaking sales, BMW Motorrad reported that January 2014 sales of motorcycles and maxi scooters were up 12.9%.
Much of the success was attributed to the 2013 BMW R 1200 GS, which features the new semi-water cooled boxer twin. The adventure-tourer was BMW’s best-selling motorcycle in 2013.
And on Monday, BMW Motorrad reported yet another positive monthly sales report. The Bavarian motorcycle manufacturer says it sold 8,098 motorcycles and maxi scooters to customers worldwide in February, showing a 18.3-percent increase over the same month of 2013 when 6,874 units were sold.
This makes last month the top-selling February in BMW Motorrad’s 90th-year history. Also, January and February deliveries combined totaled 13,536 vehicles, showing an increase of 16 percent for the same period of 2013 when 11,665 units were sold.
Heiner Faust, Director of Sales and Marketing at BMW Motorrad, says “Following the successful start into the new year we have achieved a significant plus of 18.3 percent in sales in February. With a total of 8.098 vehicles sold, this February is the fourth record-selling February in company history in succession. Worldwide demand was satisfyingly high.”
BMW Motorrad continues to attribute the R1200GS for its success, and the bike remains the top-selling model. Other attributes go to the new R 1200 GS Adventure and the new R 1200 RT that also received the semi-water cooled boxer.
More success in 2014 is expected due to the release two brand-new models – the R NineT and S 1000 R. The C evolution electric scooter will supplement the BMW Motorrad product range from May.
Faust concludes “Expectations for the season are optimistic based on our customers’ positive reactions and due to the successful sales figures of the first two months of the year.”
