2011 AMA Motocross
Round 10 of the AMA Motocross Championship in Southwick, Mass., brought a new name to the winner’s circle – Brett Metcalfe.
The Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider’s 3-2 moto finish brought win the overall win. But this one was special to Metcalfe; it was his maiden victory in the AMA 450cc MX series.
Joining Metcalfe on the overall podium at Southwick MX was Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto and Metcalfe’s teammate, the reigning Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey.
With two rounds remaining, Villopoto has the AMA Motocross lead with 431 points, followed eight points behind by Dungey. Due to his misfortunes of two DNFs at Southwick MX, Chad Reed fell further back in the points race, now in third, 65 points off the lead.
