Remember the old saying; "If you have a ten-dollar head, wear a ten-dollar helmet?" In this day and age of advanced motorcycle helmet technology I’m constantly amazed how many people are unaware of the importance of protecting the most vital part of the human anatomy; your head.
The one piece of equipment a rider should never, ever skimp on is a motorcycle helmet. And with advances in helmet technology and manufacturing, along with ensuring the best fit, you can command the maximum protection benefits for your head.
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF), in its continuing service to the motorcycle community to educate and inform, provides a range of free download guides on riding tips, laws, safety, and helmets (to name just a few).
The MSF download for helmets is under Cycle Safety Information and is entitled "What You Should Know About Motorcycle Helmets."
The four-page free download brochure contains useful, relevant information about helmet technology, helmet section, proper sizing, helmet care, requirements, helmet replacement and much more.
Designed as a basic overview the guide can help answer questions you may have about motorcycle helmets, whether they are related to design, visibility, and care, or current statistics.
At the heart of the helmet guide is the intent to educate riders about the safety aspects of head protection. The brochure also helps assuage various myths about helmets that have, despite overwhelming statistics to the contrary, been proven wrong over the years, such as; "helmets break necks".
The MSF "What You Should Know About Motorcycle Helmets" as free download here. It is a quick read yet contains enough information to potentially effect decisions on what type of helmet best suits your needs and, more importantly, your head.
