Monimoto, a Lithuanian company specializing in anti-theft GPS trackers, has released the Monimoto 9, a model built for the more demanding conditions encountered on adventure motorcycles, dual-sport bikes, and dirt bikes.
Monimoto was founded in November 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania, by Rolandas Dranseika, Antanas Masevičius, and Andrius Bruno Rimkūnas. The company started with the goal of creating simple, effective security devices for motorcycles and other high-value items, expanding from an initial idea in 2013. It has grown to offer products for motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, boats, and bicycles, selling worldwide through online retailers and dealers.
The Monimoto 9 is an update to the Monimoto 7. It uses GPS satellites combined with cellular networks (LTE-M and fallback options) to provide real-time location tracking. The device stays hidden thanks to its small size—1.5 by 3.5 inches—and light weight of just six ounces. It runs on a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 12 months, so it doesn’t need any wiring to the vehicle’s electrical system.
The tracker works with a key fob that you carry. The device arms itself when the fob moves out of range—about 100 feet. If the Monimoto 9 detects movement without the fob nearby, it calls the owner’s phone right away—usually within a minute—and sends location updates to the Monimoto app. Riders can share those GPS coordinates with law enforcement to help recover a stolen vehicle or equipment, even in remote areas where cell service is spotty but GPS signals reach.
The Monimoto 9’s main upgrades from the 7 are its smaller size, more hiding spots, and the switch to rechargeable batteries from replaceable. The unit is also rated at IP68 for dust and water resistance—essential for off-road motorcycle riders or anyone parking a bike outside for long periods.
The Monimoto 9 has an MSRP of $179, plus a $49 annual subscription for cellular service after the initial two-month trial.
