UK Lock Brand Hiplok Makes Move into US Motorcycle Retail

Hiplok, the British lock brand that built its US presence through bicycle shops, has secured listings with RevZilla, Cycle Gear, and J&P Cycles. This places its motorcycle lock range in front of mainstream American riders for the first time.

The company was founded in 2009 in England’s West Midlands by product designers John Abrahams and Ben Smith, after Abrahams’ own bicycle was stolen. Their answer was the Original, the world’s first wearable chain lock, which went on sale in March 2011. The concept, a lock worn as a belt rather than stuffed in a bag, found an audience. Within a few years, Hiplok expanded its range and looked at overseas markets.

Hiplok’s expansion into the motorcycle market accelerated in 2021, when Hiplok introduced the D1000. Hiplok claimed it was the first U-lock engineered to resist angle-grinder attacks. This came in the wake of organized theft gangs using angle grinders to successfully defeat conventional hardened-steel locks. The D1000, built using graphene composite material, was rated Diamond, the highest level bestowed by UK security experts, Sold Secure. The certification gave Hiplok a credible entry point into the realm of motorcycle security.

The motorcycle security lineup includes the AX1000 Anti-Angle Grinder Anchor ($500 MSRP), D1000 Anti-Angle Grinder D-Lock ($330), Mega Chain ($230), MD1000 Anti-Angle Grinder Motorcycle Disc Lock ($200), and lightweight Z-Lok Combination Lock Security Tie ($30) for securing helmets and luggage. Hiplok’s product mix provides theft protection options from the home garage to high-risk public areas.

In its first outing at a US powersports trade show, Hiplok appeared at AIMExpo 2025 in Las Vegas to introduce its motorcycle range to dealers and distributors. Just over a year later, Hiplok struck a deal with Comoto, the parent company of RevZilla, Cycle Gear, and J&P Cycles. The group operates the largest specialty motorcycle retail network in the United States, spanning both e-commerce sites and brick-and-mortar stores.
