2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch First Look: 7 Fast Facts

Honda restarted the automatic transmission revolution in 2010 with the introduction of a dual-clutch transmission on the VFR1200F. DCT technology has evolved and spread to other models. Two years ago, the CB650R and CBR650R got the new E-Clutch, which automated clutch operation while retaining manual transmission operation. Since 2010, we have been waiting for this novice-friendly technology to appear on motorcycles intended for beginning riders. Finally, we have the 2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch —let’s take a look at what that means for new riders.

2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch First Look: MSRP

  1. The 2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch will be the only Rebel 300 available. Honda has had great success with its electronically assisted transmissions and is going all-in with the E-Clutch on the Rebel 300, as the manual clutch version will not be offered.

  1. A fully manual transmission can be a barrier to entry for new riders, and the E-Clutch solves that problem without breaking the bank. At $5349, the 2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch is $500 more than last year’s standard clutch model. The E-Clutch model is also five pounds heavier than the standard model, though the ’26 still weighs just 379 pounds.

  1. The E-Clutch makes riding the Rebel 300 simple. When you turn the bike on, the E-Clutch system is engaged. The rider simply selects a gear, and the E-Clutch takes care of the clutch as the gearshift is accomplished. When the bike comes to a stop, the clutch disengages the six-speed transmission to prevent the engine from stalling. Twisting the throttle while in gear re-engages the transmission.

2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch First Look: Specs

  1. The E-Clutch gives the Rebel 300 rider a manual option. Should the rider want to learn to operate a manual clutch, the E-Clutch allows that choice. If the rider pulls in the clutch lever, the E-Clutch is turned off momentarily, and an ‘M’ appears on the dash. Depending on the engine speed, the E-Clutch is reactivated in anywhere from five seconds to less than a second, depending on engine speed. The faster the motor is turning, the sooner the E-Clutch system returns to action.

2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch First Look: Price

  1. The E-Clutch has two essential features carried over from manual clutches. When you do use the clutch lever, the pull is reduced thanks to an assist function that uses power from the motor. If you downshift too aggressively, the slipper function helps reduce rear-wheel hop.

  1. The motor and chassis are unchanged from last year’s Rebel 300. You still get an oversquare single with dual overhead cams that displaces 286cc. The seat height is a friendly 27.2 inches, the rake is a manageable 28 degrees, and the trail is a moderate 4.3 inches. The chunky Dunlop D404 tires are mounted on tubeless 16-inch wheels. The suspension is non-adjustable, with 3.7 inches of travel in the rear and a generous 5.5 inches up front. Each wheel has a disc and a Nissin caliper for braking.

  1. The 2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch arrives in dealer showrooms in December. You can choose between Matte Black Metallic and Pearl Smoky Gray.
