The 2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT is the more street-oriented of the two Africa Twins. For 2024, it trades the standard model’s 21-inch front wheel for a 19-inch wire-spoke wheel, rides on shorter-travel semi-active suspension, and adds touring comfort. It is a light-duty adventure tourer for riders who spend most of their time on pavement.
The 19-inch front wheel wears a 110mm-wide tire instead of a 90, giving a more planted feel on pavement and dirt roads and better flotation in sand. It pairs with the Africa Twin’s 18-inch rear wheel. Riders bound for serious off-road terrain are better served by the standard Africa Twin.
Showa EERA semi-active suspension is standard, with 7.3 inches of travel in front and 7.9 inches in back, almost two inches and nearly an inch less than before. That lowers the center of gravity and the seat, which adjusts between 33.7 and 32.9 inches and has more padding. Low and Comfort seats are optional.
The 1084cc parallel twin, with its 270-degree crankshaft, gets a higher compression ratio, revised valve timing, larger intake ducts, and new ECU settings that boost low-end and midrange power. The 6-speed DCT shifts automatically, with one Drive and three Sport modes, or manually with paddles, and its improved low-speed engagement helps in technical off-road riding.
A six-axis IMU informs the cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and DCT. Tour, Urban, Gravel, and Off-Road modes set power, engine braking, ABS, and suspension, and two User modes allow customization. The 6.5-inch TFT display supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and cruise control is standard.
For touring, there is a 6.6-gallon fuel tank, plus a new fairing and a five-position windscreen with a lower center vent that reduces turbulence. Travel, Adventure, Rally, and Urban accessory Packs are available, and each item is also sold separately.
Honda offers the 2024 Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT in Pearl White for $17,599. It is for riders who want a big adventure bike that tours comfortably on pavement and takes dirt roads in stride.
