NIGHT of the JUMPs will mark its 15th anniversary in 2015. NIGHT of the JUMPs premiered at the Riesa arena in 2001.
In the years that followed, NIGHT of the JUMPs has developed into the world’s most extreme freestyle motocross series.
From a sporting point of view, NIGHT of the JUMPs is the benchmark for everything to do with freestyle motocross. As a result, the official FIM FMX world champion has been determined within the context of the series since 2006.
Competitions that count towards the freestyle MX European championship became a part of the series in 2011, so now the European champion is also crowned at the NIGHT of the JUMPs.
The series provides authoritative rankings in freestyle motocross as well with its list of world class riders. Many premieres will feature on the tour schedule during this anniversary season, so fans across three continents can expect to see plenty of spectacular competition action.
The anniversary year kicks off January 10th with the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Sofia. In view of the fact that this event is being carried over from 2014, it is not classified as a world championship contest but as an international event where riders can secure points towards their NIGHT of the JUMPs world ranking status.
One week later, it’s time for NIGHT of the JUMPs in the Tips Arena Linz and the battle for European championship points. The two Austrian grands prix on 16th/17th January, 2015 are the opener for the freestyle MX European championship.
The dirt-bike aces then head straight from Linz to Graz, as European championship competitions 3 and 4 are on the cards just a few days later in the Stadthalle (January 24th/25th, 2015). The contests in Austria will again give juniors a chance to show what they can do in the open qualifier and secure one of the coveted tour cards.
The FIM freestyle MX world championship season starts on the second weekend in March in the German capital. Berlin’s o2 World will stage the world championship opening round for the FMX riders.
NIGHT of the JUMPs event organisers in the home town of the series intend to make freestyle motocross history to dazzle a home-grown crowd and mark its anniversary year. That will have a knock-on effect on the line-up, as a number of guest riders will be appearing and the track layout will see another landing ramp added in Berlin. For these reasons, every dirt-bike fan should make a note in their diaries about the weekend of March 6th/7th, 2015.
Riders have a fortnight to prepare for the next world championship competition after the world championship opener in Berlin before the NIGHT of the JUMPs then moves to Krakow for the first premiere on the world championship calendar (March 21st, 2015). From Poland, FMX riders fly to France for the second world championship premiere. World championship contests 4 and 5 will be staged at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Tours on March 28th – 29th.
The Swiss grand prix competitions are calendared for 10th/11th April, 2015 and will again be contested during the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Basel’s St Jakobshalle.
The European championship circus subsequently continues with the fifth competition of the freestyle MX European championship which will be contested at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Munich on April 25th, 2015.
The next world championship premiere features on the programme exactly one month later with the Spanish Grand Prix at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Jerez (Bullfighting Arena).
The winner of the 2015 FMX European championship title will be decided in Hamburg when the final two European championship competitions are held during the NIGHT of the JUMPs at O2 World on the weekend of June 12th/13th, 2015. The series then takes a break for the summer.
The next NIGHT of the JUMPs premiere follows in London after the three-month summer vacation during which the extreme riders will have plenty of time to work on new tricks. The second leg of the FIM freestyle MX world championship season gets under way September 5th/6th in the o2, London.
From London, riders head directly to China, where a world championship round will be held for the fourth time. As in 2014, the Chinese economic metropolis of Shenzhen will again stage the FMX Chinese Grand Prix. The contest in the football stadium will be after Jerez the second to take place outdoors during the NIGHT of the JUMPs 2015 season.
The world’s most extreme freestyle motocross series returns to Poland before the FIM freestyle MX world championship is finally decided. Riders will go head-to-head in Gdansk on 21st November, 2015, as they battle it out for the last set of world championship points but one.
The world championship clincher takes place on December 5th, but the organisers are not yet 100% certain where the championship finale will be held. Further details will be announced for the start of the season.
All events will feature on YouTube, and television highlights from all contests will be shown in more than 140 countries.
