NHHA Round 2 Preview
Round 2 of the AMA/Kenda National Hare and Hound Championship Series is just four days away, and the NHHA is working behind the scenes to aid the Four Aces MC in another stellar event.
Over 90 miles of race course have been staked and arrowed at this point, and the Four Aces crew is eagerly awaiting the call to drop the banner and get the race underway at 9:00am Sunday morning.
The 2010 NHHA Champion, Kendall Norman, is eager to taste victory after a disappointing DNF at Round 1. With one goal in mind, Kendall hopes to propel his JCR Honda to the top of the boxes and plans to speak with race announcer, George Antill, when all is said and done.
David Pearson is riding on a high, winning the last two NHHA events, and feels that this is his year. Along with Purvines Racing, Pearson will hit it hard and try to bring home another first place victory.
Happy with his second place finish at Round 1, Destry Abbott wants more and knows that a victory here at Round 2 would put him in contention for another Championship year. Look for the Monster Energy Kawasaki to be towards the front of the pack when the banner drops.
Equally looking for their share of the podium, Kawasaki of Simi Valley’s Jacob Argubright (3rd Overall at Round 1) and John Burr’s Justin Morrow (4th Overall at Round 1) are hot on the tails of their one time heroes and know that it is only a matter of time before they get on the podium with a win.
As a home town rider, don’t count out Nick Burson, or his Teammate David Kamo, as the factory Husky riders want to make Round 2 the first taste of podium for the newly redesigned Husky. Lastly, let’s not forget about crowd favorite Kurt Caselli.
Returning to his roots, the FMF Factory KTM racer has a goal to bring home a championship and with a disappointing 5th place finish at Round 1 (after pushing his bike one mile and through the checkered flag) he is not going to forget about what it will mean to get a win.
With more at stake than ever before, this weekend might shape up to be the most exciting off-road event of the year. Last year at the Four Aces event, the top five racers traded places all race long with the finish coming down to just a few seconds of separation, as the top three finished one after another. Join the Pros of the National Hare and Hound Series this Sunday. The banner drops at 9:00am – will you be there?
Before that all happens however, here are a few quick details on the weekend’s events:
Sign-Ups/ Pits/ Start Location
Sign-ups are located at the end of Stephen’s Mine Road. Follow the arrows from Trona Road and US HWY 395 for approximately one mile in on the dirt road. Sign-ups will be on your right at the tent and pit row will be clearly marked on the left. The start line is located approx 2.5 miles south of sign-ups and will be open for pre-running on Saturday at 2:00pm until 5:00pm, and again on Sunday morning at 6:00am.
Loop 1 is approximately 48 miles, and an alternate gas will be located one mile south of sign-ups at approximately the 20 mile mark. The alternate gas will be marked from sign-ups, and pit crews will have ample time to attend the alternate and still make it back to pit their riders in the main pit area.
The main pit area will be used at mile markers 48 and 80, and will be two-sided to allow ample pitting area. Please keep spectators out of the pits and encourage them to watch from a safe distance at all times.
Autograph Signing
There will be an autograph signing session on Saturday evening from 5:00pm to 6:00pm in the sign-up tent. Come and meet your favorite racers and get some autographed posters from them!
