When the Ducati 1199 Panigale was released for 2012, the bike quickly became the most discussed sportbike on the market.

Why? Ducati was going against tradition, the 1199 lacking the trellis frame the Italian manufacturer is known for. Instead, the 1199 uses an aluminum monocoque frame that uses the engine as a stress member.

And the engine, the Superquadro, named due to is massively over-square bore and stroke, was also an all-new design, though still a 90-degree L-Twin with the desmodromic valve system.

The 2012 model was available as a standard, an S model with Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) and other upgrades, and the S Tricolore. Besides the S Tricolore color scheme, the standard and S models were only availble in one color – Ducati Red.

But Ducati changed that for the 2013 model, which arrives as a carryover. The 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale standard and S models are also available in Arctic White, along with the usual red.
