Sena is selling a bass-tuned version of its Phantom smart helmet for an MSRP of $599. The Extreme Bass audio package is the main difference between the Sena Phantom XB and the standard model.

The core platform, shell, lighting, Mesh Intercom 3.0, WAVE Intercom, and most electronics carry over from the base Phantom, which launched at $499 MSRP last year. The XB swaps the standard Phantom’s 2nd-generation Harman Kardon speakers for 2nd-generation HD speakers and adds the specialized acoustic chamber and cheek pads. The XB audio package adds about an ounce to the weight of the standard Phantom.

What’s new on the XB is inside the shell. Sena built the acoustic chamber into both the shell and the padding. The cheek pads are reshaped to channel sound from the speakers toward the rider’s ears, reinforcing low frequencies.

Sena calls the arrangement the Pulse Drive Matrix, a high-density, multi-layered architecture that transforms low-frequency signals into a physical experience by optimizing the contact points between the chamber and the rider. Sena says the chamber also cuts the road and wind noise a rider hears inside the helmet.

Everything else is familiar ground. The XB runs Mesh Intercom 3.0 and WAVE Intercom on Bluetooth 5.3, reaching 1.2 miles in open terrain, with six Open Mesh channels and 24 riders in Group Mesh. Claimed talk time is 35 hours, and a full charge takes 2.5 hours with a USB-C cable.

The shell is composite fiberglass over multi-layer EPS with an intermediate oval head shape. The face shield is scratch-resistant and Pinlock-ready, with a retractable tinted sun shield behind it. The chin strap is secured with a double D-ring system.

A front LED flashlight and rear running and brake lights are standard. US helmets are DOT certified, and the Euro versions meet ECE 22.06 standards.

The Sena Phantom XB has a five-year warranty on helmet integrity and electronics, and the box includes a helmet bag and a USB-C cable.
