I got to know the company through the universal mount highway pegs I installed on the Ultimate Motorcycling Yamaha Ténéré 700 Project Bike. The footpegs are rock solid, easy to adjust, and make long-distance rides on highways much more comfortable. When I transferred my attention to the Ultimate Motorcycling Honda CRF300L Rally Project Bike, I moved the pegs over to make my 700-mile days on the lighter bike more palatable.
While on my first ride on the 300 Rally, I quickly recognized there was no handlebar space for my iPhone. QualMounts came up with the brilliant idea to use the real estate on the front brake reservoir for RAM mounts for various accessories, including phone holders and GPS units. The simple yet elegant design replaces the OEM brake fluid reservoir cover with a secure replacement that accepts a RAM mount ball.
The easy-to-install HND-RM-BR3 kit ($49 MSRP) includes the machined cover, replacement screws, Vibra-Tite medium-strength removable threadlocker, an Allen wrench, and RAM mount ball with attached screw-in base. The only real instructions are obvious—do not overtighten the screws, and don’t drip any brake fluid from the underside of the old cover onto the gas tank. Installation time is just a few minutes. Once in place, the setup feels as solid as anything I’ve mounted to a motorcycle.
QualMounts manufactures master cylinder covers for most models of BMW, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki. They also make the universal-fit highway pegs that have made my long-distance adventure bike rides far more comfortable.
