Sena has launched the Spider X Slim, a mesh-only motorcycle intercom that moves the battery off the main unit to shrink the housing that rides on the helmet. It sells for $299 as a single unit and $569 as a two-rider pack.

A Separate Battery Pack Shrinks the Sena Spider X Slim
The module that clamps to the helmet weighs 0.8 ounces and measures 2.9 x 1.2 x 0.6 inches. Power comes from a separate battery pack that mounts either inside or outside the helmet, depending on how the rider sets up the install.
Mesh Intercom 3.0, With No Bluetooth Option
Rider-to-rider talk runs on Sena’s Mesh Intercom 3.0, and it works with units running the older Mesh 2.0 as well. Sena claims up to 1 mile of range in open terrain. Open Mesh offers riders six channels, with no cap on how many people can join. Group Mesh handles up to 24 riders in a closed network. Wave Intercom, Sena’s app-based system, connects riders over a phone data connection with no distance limit.

There is no Bluetooth intercom mode, as is customary with Sena’s Spider line. Bluetooth 5.3 handles phone, music, and navigation prompts, while rider-to-rider communication operates exclusively over Mesh Intercom 3.0.

Sound by Bose Tuning and AI Noise Cancellation
Audio is delivered by a pair of 40mm second-generation HD speakers tuned by Bose, backed by a dedicated digital signal processor and custom equalizer settings. The speakers are 9mm thick. Sena’s AI-based noise cancellation works on the microphone side, cleaning up wind and engine noise before a rider’s voice is distributed to the group. Sena includes both a wired boom microphone and a flat wired microphone to suit different helmet types.
Battery Life, Charging, and Weatherproofing
Sena quotes 11 hours of talk time and a two-hour charge over USB-C. If necessary, a power bank can keep the Spider X Slim intercom working on a long day. Sena also claims automatic power controls that improve battery efficiency.

The Spider X Slim is rated IPX7 for water resistance. It also carries FM radio, voice commands, and over-the-air firmware updates. Four faceplates come in the box: Piano Black, Dark Chrome, Silver Stone, and Alpine White.
“The Spider X Slim combines premium audio from Bose, the proven performance of Mesh Intercom 3.0, and a lightweight form factor that riders will appreciate on every journey,” said Senior Vice President of Product Dr. Lee. “It represents the next evolution of accessible premium communication.”
