Adventure riders who prefer the street will be interested in the new Michelin Anakee Adventure 2 tire. It’s an 80/20 street-biased ADV tire that focuses on pavement performance while accommodating light-duty dirt action.
The new Adventure 2 is part of Michelin’s four-tire Adventure Touring lineup. For adventure-touring riders who stick to the street, Michelin recommends the Road 6. If you’re looking to dip a toe into the dirt, the 90/10 street-biased Anakee Road tires are available. The Adventure 2 is slightly more dirt-ready at 80/20, while the Anakee Wild is rated 50/50 and is the most dirt-oriented Michelin Adventure Touring tire.
Replacing the Anakee Adventure, the 2 generation has these cornerstone features:
- New tread design. Michelin claims it is a “balance between road comfort and traction on loose surfaces,” which aligns with its 80/20 bias.
- Michelin 2CT Technology. Michelin’s name for dual compound, it ensures a long life in the centerline and enhanced grip for cornering.
- Michelin Reinforced Radial-X Evo & Aramid Shield. Michelin beefs up the carcass with an additional reinforcement ply for more on-road stability, puncture resistance, and off-road durability.
- Michelin Premium Touch Design/ Not content with producing a tire that works well, this is about the effort Michelin puts into making the sidewall presentable to onlookers.
Here are the areas where Michelin believes the new Anakee Adventure 2 is superior to its predecessor:
- Slower wear. Michelin claims the front tire will get 7 percent more mileage than the previous version, and 21 percent more mileage out of the rear
- Quieter operation. An effort had been made to reduce road noise.
- Enhanced grip in the wet. The Anakee Adventure 2 gets high-performance silica-based compounds
- Mud and Snow capability. Michelin rates the Anakee Adventure 2 as a Mud and Snow (M+S) tire.
Michelin is focusing on these popular adventure bike lines as being friendly to the Anakee Adventure 2 tires:
- Aprilia Tuareg
- BMW R 1250 GS and R 1300 GS
- Ducati Multistrada
- Honda Africa Twin
- KTM Super Adventure
- Kawasaki Versys
- Moto Guzzi V85
- Suzuki V-Strom
- Triumph Tiger
- Yamaha Ténéré 700
With this new tire, Michelin states a goal of being “a major player in the adventure segment by 2030.” The Michelin Anakee Adventure 2 tire should be available at your dealer now.
