Plews Tyres First Look [Motocross and Enduro Rubber]

Plews Tires First Look: Motocross

The world of off-road motorcycle tires is replete with niche brands with near-fanatical devotees. While companies such as Dunlop dominate in American supercross and motocross, and Pirelli does strongly around the globe in MXGP, that doesn’t prevent other brands from making inroads, albeit small ones. The latest contestants to land on US soil come from England—Plews Tyres—and they’re being imported by Risk Racing.

Plews Tires First Look: Motocross Rubber

Founded just two years ago by off-road industry vets Josh Plews and Stephen Mills, Plews Tyres has a wide-ranging mission statement “to craft superior tires that resonate with the mindset and requirements of every rider, from the grassroots level to the pinnacle of professional racing.”

Plews Tyres taps into modern technology, using laser scanning and 3D printing. The compounds are British-developed by British chemists, so the tires aren’t lifted from previously existing tires.

Plews Tyres’ British heritage is reflected in the model names of the tires. Motocrossers can choose between Hawkstone GP, Foxhills GP, and Matterly GP tires—all famous British motocross circuits.

Plews Tires First Look: MX2 Matterly GP

The Plews Tyres MX3 Foxhills GP tires are for hard pack, the MX2 Matterly GP tire is an intermediate design, and the rear-only Hawkstone GP is a soft/sand/mud tire. Off-road riders aren’t left out, with two different EN1 Grand Prix tires offered—Extreme – The Tough One gummy tire used at the 2024 Red Bull Romaniacs hard enduro, and an FIM Regulation Enduro option. The tires are also offered in three packs—two rears and one front.

“Plews and I share a common commitment in providing innovative and problem-solving design to the moto market,” explains Risk Racing Owner James Burry. “Together, we’re bringing a world-class, 100 percent dirt bike-focused tire brand to the USA.”
