Honda’s Cole SeelyCole Seely, who helped develop the 2017 CRF450R, is about to visit Honda’s homeland. The Team Honda HRC pilot, who finished sixth overall in 2016 Monster Energy Supercross and 13th in 450 Motocross, is set to compete in the final round of the All Japan MX National Motocross series. The round is scheduled for October 22-23 at Sportsland Sugo in Mlyagi, Japan. Seely will race in the IA1 class (450cc) alongside Akira Narita, a factory HRC rider and 11-time Japanese National Champion, and MXGP veteran Kei Yamamoto.
Seely will also visit Honda Racing Corporation, Honda Motorcycle R&D in Asaka, the Honda Proving Ground in Tochigi and the Honda Collection Hall at Motegi Circuit.“I’m really excited for the opportunity to race in Japan,” says Seely. “I’ve never been anywhere overseas, so I’m just as excited to see another part of the world as I am to race and have my team there with me. It will also be a great chance to meet everyone at Honda and HRC; being a part of the Honda family has been a dream come true, so I’m looking forward to showing them my appreciation.“Helping develop the new 2017 CRF450R has been going really well. It’s crazy how good it is already in the early stages, and it will just continue to get better—I can’t wait to race it! I’m looking forward to working with the crew in Japan, and I want to thank everyone at the Kumamoto factory for working so hard to get this bike out despite dealing with the damage from the April earthquake.”“I’m really excited to see Cole racing in Japan for the first time,” says Sam Mishima, Honda Motorcycle Sports Manager. “He showed a lot of speed during the beginning of the motocross season, so hopefully he can continue that and get some good results. I’m sure he’ll also have a good time visiting the Honda facilities.”
Hello everyone and welcome once again to Motos and Friends, the weekly podcast brought to you by Ultimate Motorcycling. My name is Arthur Coldwells.
Motos and Friends is brought to you by Yamaha. You can check out the amazing YZF-R7 at your local Yamaha dealer, or of course at YamahaMotorsports.com. The YZF-R7 is an amazing supersport machine that is comfortable too!
In this week’s first segment, Editor Don Williams takes the smallest BMW ADV bike on an urban adventure in Los Angeles. The BMW G 310 GS is a full size motorcycle with a modest engine, so of course we wonder if it is a little too underpowered and might struggle. Don put it through its paces and gives us his take.
In the second segment, Neale Bayly and Kiran Ridley have returned from the Ukraine to Paris where Kiran is based.
Kiran is an award winning photojournalist, and as an accomplished documentarian, he has covered stories as diverse as drug smuggling around the Mexican border, to the devastation of the Australian Bush Fires, to the tragedy of the Mediterranean migration crisis. Neale and Kiran reminisce about their motorcycle adventure in the Ukraine, and their observations and experiences with the incredibly resilient people of Ukraine, who have been put through such brutal hardship.
