The month of April has given Triumph plenty to celebrate –  the Hinckley brand reports that sales are positive, allowing the English stalwarts to become the #1 European motorcycle marque in North America through the first four months of 2016.

Triumph has been on a bit of a kick as of late; with the release of the highly anticipated Bonneville and Thruxton lines, as well as the Street lines, it’s easy to make the connection as to why it’s been outdoing the competition as of late. European dealers have been putting in work to achieve those numbers, and while the Bonneville family is certainly more than enough incentive for most to whip out their checkbooks, Triumph would like to give credit where credit is due.

In conjunction with several new releases and the Bonneville Reborn Tour, Triumph grew its sales 31 percent over last year. Triumph is now the top selling Euro brand in the on-highway class to date this year. The result was reached upon review of motorcycle sales in the on-highway and dual-sport categories.

“The April sales show the incredible passion and loyalty of the Triumph customer and is a direct result of extraordinary effort all the way from the design and development team to the dealer network that is working to deliver a distinctive, cool, authentic, and premium customer experience,” said Matt Sheahan, COO of Triumph Motorcycles America. “We couldn’t be more excited for the future for our customers, our dealers, and our brand.”

Triumph: #1 European Motorcycle Brand - Triumph Explorer
Triumph Tiger Explorer

The Bonneville family is something that I’ve come to covet as of late – that’s after getting to test a few choice samples a little while ago in Portugal. The Street Twin, Bonneville T120, T120 Black, Thruxton and Thruxton R, all except the Street Twin are featured in the most recent issue of Ultimate MotorCycling. It shouldn’t come as a shock, having experienced some of the line first hand, I fully understand why customers are flocking to Triumph dealers. Classic Bonneville styling with ground-up redesign, from chassis to suspension, and everything is wonderful.

Triumph is also catering to its adventure fans by releasing the Tiger Explorer 1200 range a bit early. Pre-orders will be filled by the end of May, according to Triumph. Over the years, the Explorer line has become one of the primer adventure bikes, with modern technologies and a truly wonderful power plant.
