BMW Motorcycle Sales Report, August 2015
When BMW Motorrad reported its June 2015 sales report, it broke yet another six-month record. BMW said sales of motorcycles and maxi scooters were up 10.5 percent from the same period of 2014, with attribution going towards the R1200GS. BMW followed this up with a record month of July 2015 sales, once again attributing the R1200GS.
Sales were again positive for August 2015, but this time attribution went to the revised S1000RR superbike, which was the best-selling motorcycle of August. This was BMW’s second-best August to date, the Bavarian motorcycle manufacturer selling 1,338 motorcycles and maxi scooters compared to 1,101 sold in August 2014.
The BMW S1000RR was the best selling model of August with 192 units sold. This, combined with sales of the new S 1000XR, helped grow the S Series retial by 45 percent to 336 units (compared to 231 in August 2014.
Boxer model sales, boosted by the arrival of the R1200RS, grew 74% with sales of 685 units compared to 394 this time last year.
