Leaded Video – Honda Africa Twin
Just as Kawasaki H2 videos were “leaked” before the turbocharged-machine’s unveiling, someone at Honda let loose a video of the new Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin.
Somehow, the leaked Honda Africa Twin Video ended up at the office of ADV Pulse – a publication dedicated to adventure riding. The publication recently uploaded the video to its YouTube channel.
Featuring loads of wheelies and jumps, the video attached above is from an official Honda series titled “True Adventure Final Episode,” and features some insights into the Honda Africa Twin, such as the 21-inch front/19-inch rear wheel setup, and talks about the lightweight and DCT.
This leaked portion is “Episode 06 – The Meeting: Part 2.” It features some Team Honda Racing Corporation folks discussing Honda’s new adventure bike, including To-San, Chassis and Suspension Engineer who set up the original Africa Twin. Sasaki-San, Handling Engineer, and Yamasaki-San, Fuel Injection Engineer.
The CRF1000L revives the well-respected Honda Africa Twin name, which debuted in 1989 with the XRV650. The XRV650 Africa Twin was released after Honda took four-consecutive Dakar Rally wins. The XRV650 impressed with its enduro nature, durability, quick handling, and upright-riding comfort.
Honda says “The new (2016) Honda Africa Twin remains true to all the attributes and abilities of the XRV650 and its successor, the XRV750, while adding the benefits of everything Honda has learned on and off-road over the last decade, including Team HRC’s return to the Dakar in 2013.”
