2014 Yamaha FZ-09 Recall
Yamaha has recalled 5,300 of its popular naked mid weight, the FZ-09, due to possible headlight issues.
Yamaha says 2014 FZ-09 motorcycles, built from Aug. 1, 2013 through Aug. 29, 2014, may have a shorter-than-needed headlight harness. If the rider turns the handlebar all the way right or left, the headlight harness may break near the coupler, or the coupler may disconnect.
If this occurs, the FZ-09’s headlight will go out, reducing rider visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Yamaha says it will notify owners, and dealers will install a sub-harness to lengthen the headlight harness, free of charge. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
