This past weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Monster Energy Graves Yamaha’s Josh Hayes earned his fourth AMA SuperBike title.
At 39-years old, the YZF-R1 pilot is now one of two riders to win four AMA SBK titles (Mat Mladin won seven).
Surely this is quite the achievement, and Arai went one step further to award its sponsored rider with a one-off, special edition Corsair-V RC (Racing Carbon) helmet.
The lid, which utilizes the carbon-fiber shells that Arai uses in Formula One, features Hayes’ famed “Jolly Roger” skull graphic.
“Josh is truly one of the greats in U.S. motorcycle road racing,” said Jeff Weil, Arai North America Race Support Manager. “On top of being a world-class racing talent, he has also been an outstanding steward of the Arai brand. We wanted to present Josh with a fitting gift to celebrate his latest title, and we think the Jolly Roger Corsair-V RC certainly fits the bill!”
A native of Gulfport, Mississippi, Hayes has won all of his major championships wearing Arai helmets, including three consecutive AMA Superbike titles from 2010 to 2012, the 2006 and 2007 AMA Formula Xtreme championships and the 2003 AMA Superstock title.
