Remi BizouardNIGHT of the JUMPS Freestyle MXThe Whip contest made a great comeback at the NIGHT of the JUMPS last season. With ROCKWELL Watches as title sponsor, this side contest had audiences leaping out of their seats at every event, especially as the dirt bike stars were taking to the air in trains of up to eight riders.
The way was thus paved for the Rockwell Watch Best Whip Contest to become a regular fixture once again at NIGHT of the JUMPS events in 2014.The Whip is basically the mother of all freestyle motocross tricks. It was the first trick to evolve purely from motocross racing and is still one of the most stylish tricks of all.In the 11 contests of the season first half held so far, there have been seven winners, who were all pleased to win a new piece of ROCKWELL jewelry for their wrist. The two Frenchmen Maxime Gregoire and Remi Bizouard each triumphed twice, winning the two ROCKWELL Watch Whip contests at the NIGHT of the JUMPS in Linz and Graz. And yet again at the major world championship weekend in Berlin, the same winner won the Whip contest on both days: Aleksey Koleshnikov from Russia. In 2014, Spanish rider Dany Torres also twice occupied the topmost rung of the whip podium, once at the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship Grand Prix in Poland and again on the first day of the NIGHT of the JUMPS in Basel. Bianconcini from Italy dominated the second Swiss Grand Prix with juicy Whips!German rider Lukas ‘Skywalker’ Weis and Spain’s Jose ‘El Loco’ Miralles also joined the ranks of the Whipmasters in 2014, each winning a ROCKWELL champion’s watch. Weis triumphed at the NIGHT of the JUMPS in Munich in front of his home crowd, while Miralles ‘whipped’ his way to the top of the podium in Mannheim. The NIGHT of the JUMPS summer break ends on October 4th when the next round in the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship series kicks off in Cologne’s Lanxess Arena to produce the first best Whip of the season second half. LIFEPROOF take over from Rockwell at the event in Cologne as title sponsors of the side contests. It will be interesting to see who will stand on the LIFEPROOF best Whip podium in the Rhine metropolis and at the NIGHT of the JUMPS contests still to be staged in Shenzhen (China), Sofia (Bulgaria), Frankfurt, Windhoek (Namibia) and Fortaleza (Brazil).ROCKWELL Watch Best Whip Champions 2014 (at the halfway stage):

Hello everyone and welcome once again to Ultimate Motorcycling’s weekly Podcast—Motos and Friends.
My name is Arthur Coldwells.
This week’s Podcast is brought to you by Yamaha motorcycles. Discover how the YZF-R7 provides the perfect balance of rider comfort and true supersport performance by checking it out at YamahaMotorsports.com, or see it for yourself at your local dealer.
This week’s episode features Senior Editor Nic de Sena’s impressions of the beautiful new Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST that is loosely based around the original FXRT Sport Glide from the 1980s. Hailing from The Golden State, these cult-status performance machines became known as West Coast style, with sportier suspension, increased horsepower, and niceties including creature comforts such as a tidy fairing and sporty luggage.
In past episodes you might have heard us mention my best friend, Daniel Schoenewald, and in the second segment I chat with him about some of the really special machines in his 170 or so—and growing—motorcycle collection. He’s always said to me that he doesn’t consider himself the owner, merely the curator of the motorcycles for the next generation.
Yet Daniel is not just a collector, but I can attest a really skilled rider. His bikes are not trailer queens, they’re ridden, and they’re ridden pretty hard. Actually, we have had many, many memorable rides on pretty much all of the machines in the collection at one time or another.
From all of us here at Ultimate Motorcycling, we hope you enjoy this episode!
