Valentino Rossi Car-Racing News / VideoAs usual, the MotoGP star at the Monza Rally Show was nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi. The 34-year-old Italian once again impressed at the rally held at the Monza circuit just outside of Milan, taking second overall in the race and second in the “Master Show” knockout tournament.Rossi, competing with co-driver Carlo Cassina, would take four stage wins behind the wheel of the Ford Fiesta RS WRC. But the man who rejoined Yamaha Factory Racing following two sour years with Ducati couldn’t make it a fourth Monster Rally Show victory due to Citroen World Championship star Dani Sordo of Spain, who won by a 10.6-second margin. Taking the final podium position was endurance driver Rinaldo “Dindo” Capello, who piloted a Citroen.
Valentino Rossi (Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP) says: “This is one of the highlights of the year. I get to race against my friends and there is very little pressure to perform. It is a shame that I didn’t get the overall wins, but I’m proud of four stage wins which is incredible for me – and I get to see all of the fans from rally and MotoGP™, which is great. I’m coming back next year!”Rossi, who dominated last year’s Monza Rally, also finished second in the Master Show behind Sordo. In 2013 MotoGP, Rossi finished fourth overall behind the title winner, Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez. VR46 returned to the podium six times, including the win at Assen, which was his first victory since 2010 MotoGP.
