Triumph Tiger 800 & 800 XC Sargent SeatsSargent Cycle Products is proud to introduce seats for Triumph Tiger 800 motorcycles that are specifically engineered for the rigors of off-road and street-based adventure touring.
These World Sport Performance Plus models are ruggedly built with heavy-duty, grippy cover materials and a distinctive double-stitch construction that’s both attractive and strong enough to withstand years of abuse.Seating surfaces are made from our new DTX High-Performance Seating Material. This super-tough, long-wearing material offers optimal friction, providing the perfect amount of grip – not too sticky and not too slippery – when used with a wide variety of riding apparel. For additional bike control when riders are standing on the footpegs or seated, the completely waterproof covers also integrate Sargent’s GripZone side panels. This marine-grade, fade-resistant upholstery comes in a choice of matching piping around its circumference to coordinate with the Tiger’s paint schemes.Sold as a pair for rider and passenger, these enhanced versions of Sargent’s long-proven seats couldn’t carry the World Sport Performance name if they didn’t offer the comfort and ergonomic upgrades for which it is famous. The Tiger 800’s stock seats were too narrow and crowned to offer effective support, concentrating too much rider weight in a small area that causes excessive pressure. To cure this, Sargent completely reworked seat foam shapes to be wider and slightly cupped front and rear.Further distributing rider and passenger weight, extended support wings were added to the base pan, resulting in substantially more width and foam support where needed. In addition, the foam is level front to back, which eliminates the stock seats’ tendency to push operators forward. The rear seat has been re-contoured to keep passengers from sliding forward, too.The rider’s seat is available in regular height and a low version that offers slightly better reach than the stock seats. Outfitted with high-quality hardware and ready to install, the fronts seat fits in the bikes’ high and low mounting positions. To cover their wide spectrum of the capabilities, Sargent also released a World Sport Adventure Touring seat for Triumph’s 800cc Tigers featuring the same great ergonomics and comfort as the special Performance Plus model, covered with tough, UV-resistant upholstery that is waterproof and nearly maintenance-free.The Tiger seats are built on vacuum-formed CarbonTec base pans. This super tough, lightweight material provides an exceptional high-performance seat foundation. Each passenger seat pan has a built-in storage compartment. All World Sport seats use Sargent’s proprietary Super Cell Atomic Foam suspension. Developed through years of R&D in all conditions, it’s formulated for the perfect blend of durability, firmness and vibration absorption, and wrapped by a moisture barrier. The Adventure Touring version comes with black CarbonFX seating inserts and black or silver piping; other colors are optional.Even more comfort and convenience are provided by Sargent’s most popular upgrade – an efficient, easy-to-use seat-heating system that is installed during production. Bonded to a seat’s foam, the company’s Fine Wire heating pad is undetectable while riding. This thin pad has soft, pliable layers sandwiching Nichrome heating elements that spread heat evenly, from a warm 98 degrees to a butt-on-fire 125-plus, to penetrate heavy winter riding gear. When attached to one of Sargent’s state-of-the-art digital controllers, each pad warms up quickly. This unit accurately regulates consistent temperature with micro-adjustability, rather than old-tech high and low settings.Small and waterproof, the controller can be mounted in any orientation, has an easy-to-read, 10-bar LED display that is adjustable for brightness, and raised buttons, making it easier to operate with gloved hands. All Sargent seating products are backed with three levels of post-purchase protection. They’re covered by a 1-year limited warranty to be free from defects in workmanship and materials.Seats ordered directly from Sargent come with a no-risk, 30-day money-back guarantee and an extended warranty at no extra cost. It protects foam and hardware for five years; covers for two years. The company’s comprehensive aftercare program offers repair, reupholstering and refurbishing services.World Sport Performance seats are available for more than 80 models of Aprilias, BMWs, Ducatis, Hondas, Kawasakis, Suzukis, Triumphs and Yamahas of all types: Sportbikes, standards, sport-tourers, dual-sport and adventure bikes.Sargent Cycle Products builds the ultimate in distinctive, high-performance motorcycle seating products and upholstery. This week, Senior Editor Nic de Sena gives us his impression of the outrageously cool-looking new Indian Scout Rogue. The Rogue features a larger front wheel among several other changes, and the bobbed-looks and excellent 100 horsepower motor make the Scout Rogue an interesting—and very real—competitor to the offerings from Milwaukee.
In the second segment Neale Bayly brings us the third and final segment from Brian Slark—the man who helped bring Norton motorcycles to America. Having spent 27 years and counting at the Barber Museum in Birmingham Alabama, Brian talks us through the final part of his career, that of course includes how the museum got started and where it’s going.
