When Ducati released the 1199 Panigale last year, the superbike was a game changer for the Bologna-based company.
The 1199 arrived without a Trellis frame, and was stuffed with a brand-new Desmodromic engine – the Superquadro, named due to its overly square design (112mm bore x 60.8 stroke).
Though these characteristics went against tradition, the 1199 immediately impressed, becoming one of the most discussed models within the industry. And for 2013, the Bologna-based Ducati has released an even more impressive offering – the 1199 Panigale R.
The 1199 R is basically an 1199 “S” model with a host of race-specific enhancements, highlighted by a light weight of 367.3 lbs. (with ABS), a three-percent increase in power, which should bring power up over 200 horsepower, and a four-point adjustable swingarm.
