Rossi: The Mugello Story, Part I (Video)

Valentino Rossi Video

For a fiercely proud Italian motorcycle rider with a wicked sense of humor, the Grand Prix of Mugello has been the scene of not only some of Valentino Rossi’s definitive moments on a motorcycle but the place at which he’s paid tribute to his roots and legions of fans.

Talking to VR46 the desire to perform and put on a show for the tens of thousands who invade the MotoGP circuit each year exists both on and off the track.

From 2002-2008 his barely believable seven consecutive wins at the Italian Grand Prix coincided with the creation of a series of helmets dedicated entirely for the occasion. While Rossi’s legend grew along with the trophy haul, the messages direct to his fans or the sport as a whole became more colorful and personal.

Heading into this weekend with tradition still intact, Valentino will unveil his own dedication once again on Saturday morning. With the opportunity to share the memories of ten years worth of stories that lead up to Mugello 2012, we at Monster Energy spent time talking through his favorites since 2002 and how they came about.

Follow the story through the race weekend as Aldo Drudi picks up the narrative on how the often-wild ideas have found their way onto Valentino’s helmet and some insight to what goes on behind the scenes.

Attached above is part one of the Mugello story, discussing Valentino Rossi’s iconic helmets. Two further films will be released either side of the race weekend, continuing the 2012 story.
