Zero Motorcycles Recall
Zero Motorcycles has recalled 254 motorcycles, the electric-motorcycle manufacturing saying various 2012 DS, S, X, XU and XU-LSM models are affected.
Zero says insufficient weatherproofing may cause a short circuit of the battery management system when the motorcycles are subjected to wet conditions, resulting in the motorcycle losing power. Sudden loss of power may lead to a crash, increasing injury or death.
Zero will notify owners and dealers will repair the motorcycles free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on July 16. Owners may contact Zero Motorcycles at 1-888-786-9376.
Customers may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or visit safercar.gov. NHTSA Campaign ID Number is 12V310000.
This is the second recall from Zero Motorcycles within a week; last week, Zero recalled 450 units due to brake-light switch issues.
