2011 AMA Superbike
AMA Pro Racing recently released the attached YouTube video highlighting the 2011 AMA Superbike Championship, which was taken for the second consecutive year by Team Graves Yamaha’s Josh Hayes.
The R1 rider battled throughout the season with his rival, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Blake Young. When all was said and done, though, Hayes took the championship over Young by a mere five points in what became one of the best season finales in the history of Superbike (New Jersey Motorsports Park).
All together, Hayes took seven poles and three wins throughout the 2011 AMA SBK Championship.
Taking third in the points race, 60 points behind his Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammate, was Tommy Hayden, the older brother of MotoGP’s Nicky Hayden and AMA SBK’s Roger Lee Hayden (Jordan Suzuki), who finished sixth in the overall points.
Fourth went to freshman SBK rider Martin Cardenas aboard the M4 Suzuki GSX-R1000, with the other Jordan Suzuki rider Ben Bostrom taking fifth.
