2011 Isle of Man TT
Soon as the action got underway, the 2011 Isle of Man TT Supersport race 2 was red-flagged on the second lap Wednesday due to heavy downpours.
The four-lap race was originally going to be rescheduled for later in the day, but IOMTT officials have moved the Monster Energy Supersport event to Thursday, a day that originally didn’t feature any IOMTT action; the Supersport race 2 will be held at 12:15 p.m.
As of noon (EDT), no reports were released about if or when the Sure Sidecar 2 TT and SES TT Zero races will be held. Stay tuned to UltimateMotorCycling.com for IOMTT updates.
When the Supersport 2 race was underway, Monday’s Superstock-winner Michael Dunlop was leading aboard the Street Sweep Yamaha YZF-R6; he had a 10-second lead over his brother, with Marks Bloom Racing Yamaha YZF-R6 rider Dan Kneen trailing in third.
Honda TT Legends CBR600RR rider Keith Amor crashed at Union Mills during the second lap of Supersport 2, but reports say John McGuinness’ teammate was OK. Mark Parrett also crashed, sustaining ankle injuries.
The rain didn’t halt the famed Arai Parade Lap; this lap was completed by Mick Doohan, Ducati MotoGP rider Nicky Hayden, Monster Energy Yamaha’s Cal Crutchlow, IOMTT-Superstar Ian Hutchinson and Josh Brookes.
