Scooter Recall
E-Ton is recalling certain model years 1999-2010 50cc and 150cc, Beamer I, Beamer II, Beamer III, and 2007-20101 50cc and 150cc Matrix scooters due to control locations being reversed.
E-Ton says 25,176 units are affected.
E-Ton says the on/off switch should be located on the right-side handlebar, and the high/low beam switch on the left side to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requirements. But on the E-Ton machines, these locations are reversed, not complying with regulations.
If a rider gets confused while using the switches, there is a potential hazard for a crash,
Dealers will repair the scooters, reversing the locations of these switches free of charge. Owner notifications are expected to begin soon; owners may also contact E-Ton at 1-866-224-3318.
Owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit SAFERCAR.GOV.
