Guintoli All Wet at Phillip Island SBK Test

2011 SBK Testing

The quickest time in the opening World Superbike testing session at a wet Phillip Island Australia went to Sylvain Guintoli on an Effenbert Liberty Racing Ducati 1198 R.

Right behind the Frenchman was Jonathan Rea (Castrol Honda CBR 1000 RR) ahead of the second Ducati 1198 R from the Czech Republic team in the hands of Jakub Smrz.

Michel Fabrizio (Suzuki Alstare GSX-R 1000), who tested at Phillip Island last week, was fourth quickest ahead of the Kawasaki of Joan Lascorz and Carlos Checa (Ducati Althea Racing 1198 R).

Despite still suffering from an unfit shoulder, Marco Melandri (Yamaha R1 World Superbike Team) managed to notch up seventh fastest time, ahead of Leon Haslam on the first BMW S 1000 RR machine.

James Toseland on the Italian version of the BMW S1000RR was 14th ahead of Haga, while Akira Yanagawa has replaced Chris Vermeulen for these tests, as the Australian is not yet in a condition to ride.
