2011 AMA Superbike Video
The first official test session of the 2011 AMA Superbike season began last month under sloppy conditions, as rain plagued the newly-paved Daytona International Raceway. But once the American SBK field began putting down some laps, the action was intense.
On the Throttle TV, known for their ongoing coverage of AMA Pro Racing, was at Daytona for the test. Besides showing the riders as they got their first taste of their bikes for 2011, OTT also interviewed some specialists at Dunlop, and many big names behind the scenes of AMA SBK teams.
The attached video from OTT reviews the Daytona Tire Test, which to no suprise was led by the reigning champ, Graves Yamaha’s Josh Hayes.
Hayes posted a time of 1:38.795 / 127.901 mph aboard the Yamaha R1. Just behind Hayes was Tommy Hayden on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R 1000 with a time of 1:39.074 / 127.542 mph.
Hayden’s Suzuki teammate Blake Young was third, and debuting the all-new 2011 Cycle World Attack Kawasaki ZX-10R liter-bike was Eric Bostrom, who finished fourth.
Another SuperBike rider showing well on a new combination was Larry Pegram, who posted the fifth-fastest time with his new 2011 BMW S 1000 RR.
The first race of the 2011 AMA Superbike season gets underway at Daytona March 10-12.
