BMW R 1200 GS: Most Popular BMW

Most Popular 2010 BMW

BMW Motorrad (Motorcycles) had a successful motorcycle sales year in 2010. By the month of Dec., the company had sold and delivered more than 98,047 motorcycles to customers worldwide, up from the previous year of 87,306 units.

This represents a healthy 12.3% growth rate for the BMW motorcycle brand, in what has proven to be a highly challenging economic environment for other major motorcycle manufacturers.

And once again the most successful model overall was the BMW R 1200 GS enduro touring motorcycle, selling 18,768 units, up from the previous year of 15,864 units.

This sales success was followed by its sister motorcycle model, the R 1200 GS Adventure, which sold 11,648 units, much improved from previous year of 8,803 units.

The third most popular BMW went to the classic BMW R 1200 RT touring bike, with 11,132 motorcycles sold.

BMW Motorrad also experienced extraordinary success with the still new S 1000 RR. In the first full year of marketing, 10,209 units were delivered to customers, and the first supersports motorcycle from BMW is heading the sales statistics in Europe.

More than 90% of the orders for the S1000RR opted for the innovative "Race ABS" and the dynamic traction control DTC.

At the same time, excellent sales figures were also achieved with the F 800 GS (9,669 units), the F 800 R (7,805 units), and the F 650 GS (6,951 units).
