Ryan Dungey: LIVESTRONG Challenge

Ryan Dungey Blog

Recently, I was lucky enough to have the chance to attend the Lance Armstrong Foundation LIVESTRONG Challenge in Austin, Texas.

As one of the athletes lucky enough to be a member of the LIVESTRONG team, I’m always excited to be a part of their great events.

The event in Austin was the final stop of the three-part LIVESTRONG Challenge Series that also visited San Francisco and Philadelphia earlier in the year.

All three stops proved to be a tremendous success and in total, more than $7 million was raised!

The Austin event was also part of the Ride for the Roses weekend that celebrates and gives thanks to all of the dedicated fundraisers.

While in Austin I had the opportunity to emcee and take part in the 5K run, a bike ride with Lance and members of Team RadioShack as well as 3,000 other cyclists, a visit to Mellow Johnny’s and the LIVESTRONG headquarters, and attend the fundraising dinner on Saturday night.

Each of these opportunities were a lot of fun but by far the best part of the weekend was meeting and talking with all of the amazing cancer survivors and supporters.

They are all truly inspiring individuals and their stories help me realize how lucky I am to do what I do for a living and how precious life is.

I would like to thank everyone at Nike and LIVESTRONG for inviting me to be involved with this amazing event.

I would also like to thank everyone at Mellow Johnny’s for hooking me up with a sweet new Trek to ride!
