Buffalo Chip News
Several days ago, Buffalo Chip posted a message on their Facebook about the Legendary Buffalo Chip’s 2001 and 2003 poster model Crystal Nelson.
Many have responded with their prayers and get well wishes from around the country, proving once again that the folks who come to the Chip at Sturgis are part of a very close family.
Crystal was recently injured when she was struck by a deer while on her motorcycle. The buck deer decided to cross the road near Johnson Siding in the Black Hills just as Crystal was passing on her custom Sportster. The deer struck her in her ribs, causing her to lay the bike down.
Witnesses who were following her say she is very lucky to still be with us, and the staff at the Chip are, of course, thankful for that. Crystal sustained multiple broken bones, including her cheek, ankle and several ribs. She’s lost skin on her hands, which has prevented her from holding her new grandbaby, born shortly after her accident. She’ll be out of work for some time.
Crystal has a long recovery before her, with no health insurance to help. Kelly Payne, manager of the Clock Tower Lounge, in Rapid City, where Crystal is a bartender, has organized a 5 p.m. fundraising auction for Nov. 5. at the Clock.
And again the Buffalo Chip family has come together to help make the event a success.
Former poster models Jessica and Holli have both donated to the auction the Jamaica accommodations at Hedonism II, they won in Buffalo Chip’s annual Poster Model Search. Former poster models, Madison James, Layla King, Erin, Beth, Jenn, Holli and Marina are donating autographed Buffalo Chip posters dating back to 1991.
Every beer distributor and liquor distributor will be donating very cool stuff including neons and other stuff. And, of course, the Chip will be donating a pair of Extended Rally Passes in addition to limited edition products not available anywhere else.
Donations and well-wishes may be sent to: The Crystal Fund, c/o Kelly Payne, Clock Tower Lounge, 2525 W. Main, Suite 101, Rapid City, SD 57702.
