Last month I wrote about Nic de Sena leaving us for the third time. With Nic now getting comfortable at TopSpeed, we’ve reshuffled our masthead a bit.
Nic is pretty much irreplaceable, so we didn’t replace him. The Senior Editor slot will remain empty for the foreseeable future. We left it open for Nic twice with good results, so you never know.

Instead, we promoted Teejay Adams from Associate Editor to Social Media Editor. If you follow us on Facebook, Instagram, X, or TikTok, you’ve seen her work, and probably clicked the Like button.
Teejay has mastered the craft of creating Reels, as Meta calls them. She creates, stars in, and edits many of the Reels, with some of them topping 1 million views.
While I was initially skeptical about the short-form video format, I’ve been won over and do enjoy watching them. I have even come around to shooting video clips while I’m out riding. Heck, one of the Reels I’ve appeared in has garnered over 100,000 views. Yes, I know it’s about the motorcycles and not me. Still, it’s fun when a Reel goes a bit viral.
Don’t worry. Teejay still has time to ride and review motorcycles and gear. Most recently, she’s been getting to know the Honda CB750 Hornet E-Clutch.

Next up, we have Jonathan Handler returning as an Associate Editor. He spent some time away working with Richa USA to heighten the Belgian riding apparel company’s presence in America. With that project completed, Jonathan picked up right where he left off.
Jonathan most recently rode the new Honda CB1000F around Alabama. You’ll be seeing a review of the retro roadster in next month’s issue of Ultimate Motorcycling. He also slapped a new set of Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring T33 tires on our BMW R 1250 RS Project Bike, so you’ll be reading about that soon, too. It’s great to have Jonathan back.

Joining our Associate Editor stable is Darren Bart. The lifelong motorcycle rider has two areas of expertise. He’s a great dirt bike rider, as you’ve seen in photos on our pages, and a committed motorcycle commuter to Whitney Auto Service, his family-owned shop in Canoga Park. You’ll see more dirt bike tests from Darren here in the magazine, and commuter tests of all sorts of bikes over on UltimateMotorcycling.com. As a bonus, Darren’s two young children ride off-road, and they’ll keep testing kids’ bikes for us as they grow up and move through the ranks.

Associate Editors Kelly Callan, Gary Ilminen, Jess McKinley, Freeman Wood, and Neil Wyenn are all still riding with us, and two of them have news.
Jess is recovering from an arm operation. No, it wasn’t a motorcycle mishap, but it will keep him from ripping in the dirt for a while. One of Jess’s last rides before going under the knife was a street-only excursion on the new KTM 1390 Super Adventure R. I tagged along on his testing, riding the Moto Morini X-Cape 1200. Even with a wounded arm, he was a great photo rider on both bikes we rode over Sherman Pass between Kernville and US Route 395. You can see the results of that photoshoot on the main cover of this issue. Jess is a trouper.

Finally, Freeman is ditching Los Angeles for the Lake Tahoe area. Can you blame him? While you might see a drop in the number of bike reviews from Freeman, he’ll still be going on epic rides, working on project bikes, and jetting off to exotic locales for launches of new bikes.
Ultimate Motorcycling keeps evolving, just as motorcycles do, and we think you’ll like where both are headed.
