Knoxville AMA Flat Track Canceled

Flat Track Racing

The heavy rains that saturated the Knoxville Raceway half mile continued overnight forcing Knoxville Raceway and AMA Pro Racing to cancel the once postponed, Round 16 of the AMA Pro K&N Filters Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com.

The decision was made shortly after 10 a.m. local time Sunday when it was apparent the beautiful facility could not be repaired in time to run the event.

The points races took a dramatic hit with the loss of the next to last race. Zanotti Racing’s Jake Johnson has the lead in both the Grand National Championship and the Grand National Twins standings.

Four riders still have a chance in the Grand National race. Latus Harley-Davidson / ENI USA R&M / Lloyd Brothers Motorsports’ Joe Kopp (-10 pts), Rogers Lake Racing / Blue Springs Harley-Davidson / Lucas Oil / Rockysonline.com / Twisted Energy’s Jared Mees (-19 pts) and Monster Energy Kawasaki / Jones Bros Racing / KK Motorcycle Supply / Mike & Eddie Adkins’ Henry Wiles (-26 pts) all within the 28 point maximum.

Five riders still have a shot at Johnson for the Grand National Twins Title. Harley-Davidson Motor’s Kenny Coolbeth (-14 pts), Kings Kustoms / KK Motorcycle Supply’s Sammy Halbert (-20 pts), Rogers Lake Racing / Blue Springs Harley-Davidson / Lucas Oil / Rockysonline.com / Twisted Energy’s Jared Mees (21 pts), Latus Harley-Davidson / ENI USA R&M / Lloyd Brothers Motorsports’s Joe Kopp (-23 pts) and Lancaster Harley-Davidson / Dallas-Fort Worth Honda’s Chris Carr (-27 pts) still have a shot.

Van`s Yamaha / Woody Kyle Racing’s Jeffery Carver locked away the Motorcycle-Superstore.com Pro Singles Grand National Championship as he holds an insurmountable 27 point lead over Rod Lake / Mike Velasco Racing / Brothers Powersports’ Brad Baker as 23 points go to the winner in the class.
