Superbike Charity
Pat Clark Motorsports would like to remind fans that the gear of AMA American Superbike class racers Chris Clark and Ben Bostrom being auctioned to benefit Rett Syndrome is now live on Ebay.
The auction is arranged as four separate auctions, one each for Ben’s leathers and bodywork and the same for Chris’s motorcycle leathers and bodywork. Bidding started immediately following the SPEED telecast of the race on Sunday evening July 25th and concludes on August 4th.
The special edition leathers and bodywork with new livery made their AMA motorcycle road race debut at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca round of the AMA Pro Series and saw Ben Bostrom and Pat Clark Motorsports score their first win in the American Superbike class. This was also the first win ever for Yamaha in the Superbike class at Laguna Seca.
Ron Heben says: “With the exception of Chris‘s crash in the race where he emerged uninjured, Laguna was pretty much a perfect weekend for the Pat Clark Team” said the Team Manager “and we are pleased fans are supporting this event. Thanks again to Yamaha and our sponsors for their support.”
Kevin Foley (Yamaha Media Relations Manager) says: “Our family cannot thank the Pat Clark Team enough for supporting Rett Syndrome and our daughter’s charity. To Ben, Chris, Nikki and all of the staff, you have our sincere thanks, we have been having a great time following the auction since it began last Sunday night.”
Rett Syndrome is the most physically disabling of the autism spectrum disorders. It strikes at random in early childhood, affecting little girls almost exclusively.
Currently there is no treatment beyond supportive care, however recently Rett Syndrome was reversed in mice giving hope that a cure can be found to help the girls and women with Rett Syndrome.
First recognized only 25 years ago, the prevalence of Rett Syndrome equals that of Cystic Fibrosis, Huntington’s and ALS but is vastly under funded in comparison to those disorders.
