High Point Motocross: Yoshimura Report

Motocross Report

Yoshimura riders won once again at Saturday’s High Point Motocross National. Rockstar Ryan Dungey and Andrew Short made it a 1-2 overall finish for Yoshimura.

Dungey finished each moto with a commanding lead, going 1-1 for the day after coming from behind to take the win. His stellar performance at High Point also earned him the points lead in the race for the championship.

Dungey started Moto 1 near the front of the pack and worked his way up by making smart moves, being patient, and taking advantage of the power of his Yoshimura-prepped Suzuki RM-Z450.

It wasn’t long before Dungey had overtaken the lead and was putting a gap between him and the rest of the pack. Dungey won the moto by an impressive margin, all while Short battled his way to the last spot on the podium.

At the start of Moto 2, both Dungey and Short were focused on putting their Yoshimura power on display. Both racers got a great start, and Short took over the lead as Dungey found himself in fifth place. Short started to pull away from the pack, and Dungey set to work on passing the riders in front of him.

Eventually, Dungey cut the gap between himself and Short and then claimed the lead. Short finished behind him in second. With their great finishes, Dungey took the overall win as Short took second on the podium at the end of the day.

Matt Moss and Davi Millsaps also put in solid performances at High Point, with Moss rocketing off the line and running as high as second in moto 2, and Millsaps finishing inside the top ten in moto 1. Moss finished 20th overall, and Millsaps took 11th.

Dungey’s second win of the season and second 1-1 finish moves him into the points lead, while Short’s second place moves him just ahead of Millsaps into seventh overall.

With both Dungey and Short building momentum as the season progresses, look for Yoshimura riders to be on top of the podium at the upcoming Budds Creek round on June 19th!
