Shoei RF-1000 Quick Review
Shoei’s superb-looking RF-1000 is, literally, function dictating form; the shell is actually more compact than any other full-face helmet, and offers excellent aerodynamics. I prefer a Shoei because, when tucked into a racing crouch, the front of the helmet shell does not block my eye line and, at three pounds, six ounces, the RF-1000 is one of the lightest helmets available.
The face-shield is remarkably simple to change, and the flat fit against the sides of the shell helps quiet wind noise. With four different shells and five EPS liner sizes providing a perfect fit, plus a soft, removable lining for long distance comfort, the Shoei RF-1000 ranks right up there among the best of the best in terms of protection, comfort and quality.
