Speedbrain Husqvarna Action Footage at 2012 Dakar

The Husqvarna Rally Team by Speedbrain released some footage Friday of its TE449RR at the 2012 Dakar Rally, showing the machine in action at the event coined the “toughest race in the world.”

During the 33rd annual Dakar Rally, Speedbrain Husqvarna took its first-ever stage win with Joan Barreda at the controls of the TE449 RR (Stage 10). But the Spaniard had a string of bad luck in stages three and four, experiencing a broken wheel and a crash, which caused him valuable time.

Regardless, Barreda would be the highest finisher aboard a Husqvarna, finishing 11th, 3:37:25 behind the winner, Cyril Despres (Red Bull KTM). Combined, Husqvarna landed on the podium six times during the 2012 Dakar Rally stages with riders Barreda and Paulo Goncalves.

But the overall efforts of Speedbrain team gave provided placed much respect in the BMW-owned Husqvarna; four out five riders finished without mechanical issues at the 2012 Dakar Rally, which took riders almost 5,600 miles from Mar Del Plata, Argentina, through Chile to end in Lima, Peru.
