The 21st annual KTM Adventure Rider Rally will be held September 17-19 at Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg, Idaho. Registration is now open and limited to 200 riders. The entry fee is $600 per person.

That fee covers meals, an event t-shirt and hat, and access to GPS route tracks through the mountain terrain above the resort. While the event was built around KTM’s Adventure lineup, it is open to all brands of street-legal motorcycles. Non-riders can purchase a $250 meal package.

The self-guided routes were designed by KTM USA R&D’s Quinn Cody, a four-time Baja 1000 winner and top-10 finisher at the Dakar Rally. He also serves as one of six brand ambassadors joining participants on the rides. KTM will provide GPS tracks before the event, and organizers strongly recommend carrying a SPOT or similar personal locator beacon. A GPS device is required. Routes are designed to accommodate a range of experience levels, from adventure riders looking for a challenge to riders new to off-road touring.

The other five ambassadors are Chris Birch (enduro, hard enduro, adventure), Ryan Dungey (Supercross and MX legend), Destry Abbott (desert, off-road, ISDE), Taylor Robert (enduro, off-road, ISDE), and  Chris Fillmore (road racing, flat track, supermoto, Pikes Peak). Birch will also lead riding seminars during the event.

KTM’s technical team will be on site to answer questions and provide support across the full model range. Adventure-focused vendors and KTM partners will also have a presence at the event.

Riders who prefer to fly in can rent bikes through KTM’s partnership with Colorado Motorcycle Adventures. Available models include the 890 Adventure R, 790 Adventure, 690 Enduro R, and 500 EXC-F.

The three-day schedule begins with a pre-event dinner on Thursday evening. Friday kicks off with breakfast, then riding, and concludes with dinner. Saturday wraps up the KTM Adventure Rider Rally with breakfast, more riding, and an Awards Dinner that evening.

Silver Mountain Resort sits above Kellogg at the heart of northern Idaho’s Silver Valley. Kellogg is a town of about 2400 people, about 45 minutes east of Coeur d’Alene. There’s a stretch of mountainous terrain running roughly 60 miles along Interstate 90 between Fourth of July Pass and the Lookout Pass crossing on the Montana border.

Silver Valley takes its name from the silver deposits discovered there in 1885, when a burro borrowed by prospector Noah Kellogg wandered off and was found standing on a rich outcropping of galena ore. Silver Valley went on to become one of the most prolific silver-producing regions in the world, with over one billion troy ounces pulled from the ground since 1884. The mines that drove that economy are long closed, and the valley pivoted to outdoor recreation.

Silver Mountain Resort hosts the Silver Kings Hard Enduro, a highly regarded hard enduro race. The resort’s gondola is the longest single-stage gondola in North America. It carries passengers to the summit, where the ski terrain transforms into challenging off-road terrain each summer.

You can register for the KTM Adventure Rider Rally on the KTM website.
