Victory Motorcycles: Chasing Ironman (Video)

Motorcycle Cameraman

For triathletes, the biggest day of the year is by far the Ironman World Championship held in Kona, Hawaii.

In 2011, the Ironman World Championship pushed 1800 athletes to the limits after 2.4-miles of swimming, 112-miles of biking, and a 26.2-mile marathon. The Australian Craig “Crowie” Alexander won the October event with a time of 8:03:56, which became a new record.

But its not just the athletes who are pushing the limits for success; this professional requires cameras on wheels, and what better way to film than on a motorcycle?

This is just what David Taylor did for the past 19 years at the Ironman World Championship; he is just one of two guys who is a year-round, professional camera-motorcycle driver here in the states.

And for 2011, Taylor and some others used Victory Cross Country motorcycles as their tools of choice. During the attached video above which documents the motorcycle-camera men of the Ironman World Championship, Taylor describes the Victory motorcycles as a “great platform” for the event.

Describing the video above, Victory says: “For the first time ever, Victory Motorcycles sponsored camera teams at the 2011 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Take a look behind the scenes and ride with the professional camera operators and pilots as they capture one of the triumphs of human athleticism.”
