The 2024 Beta 450 RX is the Italian brand’s first four-stroke motocross bike. It follows the 300 RX two-stroke and comes from a company known for enduro and trials bikes hand-built in Florence, Italy.
Rather than targeting professional racers, the 450 RX is intended as an everyman’s competition machine—forgiving, while still encouraging aggressive riding, in keeping with the Beta tradition of rideability.
The all-new engine draws on Beta’s MXGP effort. The oversquare 449cc DOHC four-valve single has a counterbalancer, and fueling is through dual injectors and a 46mm throttle body fed by a new airbox. Two power maps and four levels of traction control, including off, are available, and starting is electric.
The 5-speed transmission has motocross-specific ratios. The diaphragm-style clutch has three engagement settings and Brembo hydraulics.
The 450 RX gets its own chromoly steel double-cradle frame. The main spar is wider than on Beta’s enduro models, and the aluminum subframe adds rigidity. The frame is built to handle big motocross jumps while staying supple enough for cornering.
KYB supplies the suspension: a fully adjustable 48mm AOS closed-cartridge fork with 12 inches of travel and a linkage-assisted fully adjustable shock with 11.8 inches. The setup is tuned for stability and a supple ride.
Blue anodized Excel rims, 21 inches in front and 19 inches in back, wear soft/intermediate Maxxis Maxxcross MX-ST tires developed with Jeremy McGrath. Nissin calipers grip a 260mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, and the rear sprocket is red-anodized aluminum/steel.
A bike stand and four throttle pulleys for tailoring throttle response come with the 2024 Beta 450 RX, which is priced at $10,999.
