The American Motorcyclist Association has released the 2027 professional rider numbers for AMA Supercross, Pro Motocross, and the SuperMotocross World Championship. As always, plenty of shuffling is happening outside the career numbers. Forty-seven riders are changing numbers, and 22 riders on the 2027 list were not on it in 2026.
Three riders have new career numbers. Cole Davies jumps from #37 to #5, a number no one has run since Ryan Dungey in 2022. Ryder DiFrancesco goes from #34 to #10, which Seth Hammaker had last year; Hammaker is now #23. Jorge Prado moves from #26 to #61, the number he wore in the FIM Motocross World Championship.
The #1 plates are spread across five riders. Ken Roczen has the 450SX plate, Hunter Lawrence has 450MX, and Prado has 450SMX. Levi Kitchen carries #1 in 250SMX, and Davies has #1 in 250MX, along with 250SX 1E. Haiden Deegan keeps 250SX 1W, though he will be racing in the 450SX class with #38. A champion runs #1 only in the class or region where he earned it, so Prado will carry #1 in the SMX Playoffs and #61 in Supercross and Pro Motocross.
Jett Lawrence, who had the 450SMX and 450MX plates in 2026, is back on his career #18. Cooper Webb gives up the 450SX #1 plate to Roczen and returns to #2.
The biggest leap belongs to Kayden Minear, who goes from #99 to #20. Caden Dudney (#82 to #35), Carson Mumford (#71 to #25), and Daxton Bennick (#58 to #26) also make big moves up. Chance Hymas goes from #29 to #16, which was Tom Vialle’s career number before he left for Honda HRC in MXGP. Going the other way, Jalek Swoll drops from #56 to #98.
Two career numbers are off the list. Jeremy Martin retired from Pro Motocross in 2025, freeing #6, and Adam Cianciarulo’s #9 is gone after his retirement at the end of the 2024 Supercross season. No one has held #8 since Grant Langston in 2010. Superstitiously unlucky #13 is also unassigned, as Julien Beaumer moves to #19.
Belgian brothers Sacha Coenen (#64) and Lucas Coenen (#79) get their first AMA national numbers as they move to SuperMotocross full-time for 2027. Landen Gordon, with #42, has the lowest number of any rider new to the list. Benny Bloss (#54) is the only rider without a career number to keep his 2026 number.
The 2027 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship will have 17 rounds, with titles in the 450, 250 East, and 250 West classes. The schedule has not been announced yet.

In our second segment this episode Arthur Coldwells chats with Tony Bracalente, founder of Ryder-Gear. Tony is a Navy veteran and was a nuclear engineer on submarines; he’s also a frequent track rider and racer. He founded Ryder-Gear as a result of his own track riding needs, and after friends kept asking him to help them out with what they needed, he eventually started the company. Tony’s interesting background and story-telling ability gives some insight into what it takes to improve motorcycle safety both on the track, and on the street.
