Haiden Deegan’s 1-1 result won Playoff 1 of the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship in his SMX Playoff 450-class debut. Ken Roczen returned to SMX competition for the first time since winning the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Championship and went 2-2 on the muddy track at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Jorge Prado took the final podium spot and leads the SMX Championship standings by two points over Deegan with Playoff 2 and the World Championship Final remaining.

After a Prado holeshot in Moto 1, Deegan took the lead by the end of lap 2. Deegan led every lap for the rest of the afternoon. Roczen waited until lap 3 of Moto 1 to take P2, which he held for the rest of Moto 1 and all of Moto 2.
Prado settled into P3 on lap 3 of Moto 1, holding it to the finish. In Moto 2, Prado and Cooper Webb swapped P3 and P4 three times, with Webb taking P3 at the checkers. Webb’s P9 Moto 1 finish left him in P4 overall. Joey Savatgy’s 8-5 day gave him P5 overall.

Hunter Lawrence, fresh off his 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, came into SMX Playoff 1 in the top-seeded position, which earned him 25 points to start the playoffs. Lawrence struggled in the mud and fell repeatedly. His 21-8 performance put him in P15 overall and dropped Lawrence to P6 in the standings behind Dylan Ferrandis (33 points), Roczen (34), Webb (38), Deegan (40), and Prado (42).

The next round on Saturday, September 19, will be at Dignity Health Sports Park in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson. Playoff 2 scores double points, while the Final pays triple points.
