Following the upheaval in the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship Series last week in Detroit, the battle for the title got even tighter after the Main Event at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis. Ken Roczen led all but the opening lap of the 23-lap Main Event after a Hunter Lawrence holeshot while series leader Eli Tomac continued to falter. With five rounds remaining, Tomac and Lawrence are tied at the top of the standings with 245 points, with the surging Roczen just five points back.

“I honestly still can’t believe it,” Roczen said after the race. “That track was absolutely brutal, and on top of that, it was just extremely busy. It was a brutal Main Event. Even when I had that gap, you just don’t want to make any silly mistakes that allow them to get closer and make it tight at the end. I just can’t believe I pulled off this back-to-back win. I just never stop believing. We’ve got the ball rolling. We’re going to hunker down and keep hammering.”
In his return from an injury-inducing crash last week in Detroit, which handed over the series lead to Tomac, Lawrence sat in P3 for most of the race, including the final nine laps.

Justin Cooper earned his second podium of 2026, methodically moving from P5 on the first lap to P2 on lap 14, where he finished. Along the way, Cooper passed Joey Savatagy for P4 on lap 2, Lawrence for P3 on lap 5, and Jorge Prado for P2 on lap 14. By then, Roczen was long gone, and Cooper finished the Main Event over 13 seconds behind Roczen. Roczen’s win was his first back-to-back victory since a COVID residency in 2021.

Prado, who held P2 for the first 13 laps, lost a position to Cooper on lap 14 and Lawrence the next lap before firming up his final P4 slot. Cooper Webb turned a P9 start into a top five, as he passed Tomac on lap 14 for P5. Tomac held P5 from lap 3 to lap 13, following a P6 start. It’s the first time Tomac has been outside of the top five since his crash-induced P12 in Round 5 in Glendale.

Webb is lurking behind the top three riders in the Supercross Championship standings, 25 points out of the lead. Cooper is in P5 in the series, 22 points behind Webb. Although tied on points, Tomac is the series leader due to the most-wins tiebreaker; Tomac has four 2026 wins, compared to three for Lawrence.
The series resumes on Saturday afternoon at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. Check our 2026 Supercross Television Schedule for details. West Coasters will have to set their alarms to watch Race Day Live.
