We have told you about the new Cardo Beyond GTS smart helmet, the flagship head protection from Israel-based Cardo Systems, featuring Active Noise Cancellation. If the $1199 GTS has your wallet complaining, the also-new Cardo Beyond GT helmet offers many of the same features with a list price of $949. Let’s go over what makes the GT’s list price $250 lower than the GTS.
- Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is an option on the Cardo Beyond GT. It’s standard on the GTS. However, you will be able to and ANC later if your Venmo balance allows it. Cardo hasn’t released the price for the ANC upgrade.
- The battery on the GT is less powerful and lower-tech. The GT’s one-amp battery is half as powerful as the GTS’s, which can be wirelessly charged. You’ll have to get out a cable to charge the GT’s battery.
- Instead of the GTS’s carbon fiber outer shell, the GT has a fiberglass shell. Regardless, the Cardo Beyond GT retains dual DOT and ECE 22.05 certification.
- The GTS’s integrated brake light is replaced by a reflector on the GT. Also, you’ll have to get by without a front LED if you go with the Cardo Beyond GT.
- The Cardo Beyond GT comes with a lower-spec Pinlock. The GT has the Pinlock 120XLT, while the GTS has the Pinlock 200. Pinlock claims superior anti-fog performance for the 200, a focus on track-compatibility, and is ready for the most extreme weather.
- Higher-spec padding materials are used in the GTS. Cardo claims the GTS padding uses “moisture-wicking premium fabrics [that] keep the rider cool and comfortable,” while the GT has “comfort padding for long-lasting rideability.”
- Both helmets have the equivalent of the Cardo Packtalk Pro communications device. That includes mesh intercom with remote grouping, public mesh, and a 31-user group limit, along with voice control, integrated crash detection, automatic on/off functionality, and compatibility with the Cardo Connect app.
- Like the GTS, the new Cardo Beyond GT will be on the shelves this summer. It looks like the only color available initially will be a matte black finish.
